Transport for London Student Oyster Photocard, with the support of the National Union of Students (NUS) and London Metropolitan University; offer students the opportunity to spend less on travel in and around London. The Student Oyster Photocard entitles the holder to buy student rate Bus Passes and Travelcards valid for 7 Days, one month or longer periods of up to one year. Student will get 30 per cent off the adult rate. Single, daily and 3-Day tickets and Oyster single fares are not available at student rate.

 

However, money can be added to the Student Oyster Photocard to pay adult rate Oyster single fares, which are cheaper than paying cash single fares. Once the discount concession has expired, the Oyster Photocard can be used to buy and use adult-rate season tickets and to pay as you go.

 

Am I eligible?

 

In order to apply for the Student Oyster Photocard you must be: 18 years of age or over; and Studying at a university, college or school in the London area, which is participating in our scheme.And either: A full-time student enrolled on a full-time course, consisting of 15 or more tuition led and/or structured learning hours a week over a period of at least 14 weeks;A PhD student within your writing up period; or A Sabbatical Officer;

 

Enrolled on a part-time course of least 14 weeks duration and be in receipt of a fee grant, course grant or be receiving help from the Access to Learning Fund, as defined in the extract taken from A guide to financial support for higher education students in 2006/2007 produced by the Department for Education and Skills.

 

How do I apply?

You are strongly advised to check your eligibility and student record via eVision before applying, as it is your responsibility to ensure that your eligibility and student record complies with the terms and conditions of the scheme. The £5 administration charge is non-refundable regardless of your eligibility or accuracy of data on your student record.

 

Validity

 

For courses of 1 year or less, your Student Oyster Photocard will expire on your course end date. For courses of more than one year, your Student Oyster Photocard will expire on 30 September 2007. The Student Oyster Photocard issued will only remain valid while you are enrolled on a full-time or part-time course at the registered University.

 

If you cease to be so enrolled, then the Student Oyster Photocard ceases to be valid and you must return it to Transport Trading Ltd at Student Photocard, PO Box 5326, Northampton, NN1 5FJ, no later than 7 days after you cease to be enrolled. Continued use of the Student Oyster Photocard in contravention of this clause may lead to prosecution for fraud.
