Academic Misconduct


Academic misconduct includes plagiarism, collusion and any form of cheating. The penalties range from a reprimand and mark on your student record to expulsion and a lower award.

It is YOUR responsibility to make sure that work you submit IS YOUR OWN


What is Plagiarism?

Isolated use of quotes without the use of quotation marks and referencing.

What that means is using someone else’s thought, idea or quote without giving them credit.

What is Cheating?

Possession of or gaining access to revision notes or course materials; including, digital or paper copies. or accessing the internet when under exam conditions.

What is Collusion?

Using another student’s work as if it was your work.


What can I do if I have been accused of Academic Misconduct?

Once you have been formally notified of an allegation against you, please email our Caseworker via

Make sure to email over all correspondence you have received about this allegation, and any supporting evidence you may have.

This will then allow the caseworkers to discuss the allegation and options available to you, this can be done via email or a telephone call.
