Overview

Multidisciplinary artists Jasmine Kahlia and Juju Guyver present their performance piece ‘Divine Beings’.

Drawing a perspective on growing up around road culture in Archway, Camden and Tottenham, mixed/immigrant families and navigating gender conforming and non-conforming practises in this piece, both artists offer a snapshot into their multifaceted existence in working class London.

Divine Beings is based on the work they created in their 2018 zines ‘Everything is Temporary’ and ‘Hoodrat’, and both artists use music, digital collage, movement, poetry, anecdotes and live looping to portray their lives.

Previous work includes INTERFACE_TY, Road Gals and Pirates Live, all showcased at Rich Mix, London. [Pirates Live was supported by Arts Council England]. This piece is co-directed by Hillary Malcolm, director of Michael Knight Company.

This show will be a double bill alongside Michael Knight Theatre Company, who, on the night will be debuting a special performance for Black History Month.
