Over 50 per cent of London Met's student population are women, yet women remain underrepresented in both University and Students' Union structures. We are committed to promoting leadership and opportunity for women and aim to create awareness around women's rights and issues of gender inequality in support of the wider campaign for gender equality.
Our Women's Forum creates a space for women to come together, work together and be empowered.

London Met Students' Union supports the NUS Women's Campaign
Hi! I am Yasmeen.
I’m currently in my second year studying BA(Hons) International Relations, Peace and Conflict Studies. I’m from Dubai and I moved her in 2015. I am also part of the BAME and LGBTQ+ communities and I advocate for equality and awareness. I play the guitar and also read in my spare time. I love music, poetry, anime and sci-fi.
What do I do?
I’m the representative of all students who identify as women. I hold forums, discuss ideas with students and the SU staff in order to understand how to improve the experiences of women in London Met.
Why did I run?
I wanted to normalise talking about a lot of subjects that are considered taboo for women to talk about. I also wanted to create a safe space for women from all walks of life and who have different experiences that they might feel comfortable sharing with other women.
What am I working on?
I’m currently working on holding a women’s-focused employability event and I’m also working on creating a safe space for women who have suffered from different forms of abuse.
