Conversations on Racism

MASS has had the privilege to collaborate with @beth.illustrations illustrating a publication which collects the voices of fellow students, pointing out the many faces of racism within our society, profession and education. We are delighted to add our small contribution to the voices that have raised in response to George Floyd's murder, and commit to the fight of Black Lives Matter.
"Conversations on Racism" is now available as part of LIVENESS show https://liveness.org.uk/2020

About this group

We are MASS (Metropolitan Architecture Student Society). We commit to provide the means for our fellow peers to exchange ideas, host debates, engage within our city and enhance our student experience. Our objective is to become a resource for students and for them to become active members within our community.

We believe that our education is something we can be active in creating. We want everyone to have access to and be informed of all the great opportunities happening across London but also to provide a greater communication and collaboration with the other architecture schools. MASS wants to make this easier for everyone. We want to make sure the students are connected and learn from each other through events, workshops, exhibitions and lectures both student led and guest speakers.

We want to celebrate all the good work that goes on at the School of Art, Architecture and Design. By keeping our own platforms within social media and website we can spread information across students but also let other interested parties become more familiar about what goes on in the School of Art, Architecture and Design. By holding competitions, showcasing work and holding exhibitions we can encourage peers to work together.

Finally, we want to be a voice for the student body and make their experience here as rewarding as possible. By having representatives who can communicate their needs to the school and work further for their wishes for their academic studies and facilities.
