Welcome to the Student Democracy section of the website. The purpose of this section is to provide London Met Students with a simple and accessible guide to student democracy at London Met. Student participation in the decision-making process at London Met is centred round London Metropolitan University Students’ Union (MetSU) and its Student Council.

Tuesday 5 April 12:00 noon (provisional): Results declaration in the Rocket, North Campus
All candidates are strongly advised to attend one or both of the Candidate Briefings. Here you will hear full details of election process, rules and regulations and be able to meet the other candidates and the Returning Officers. It is the responsibility of the Students' Union to promote the Ask the Candidates events and the election in general.

IMPORTANT: If you are elected a full or part-time officer you will hold office from 1 July 2011 to 15 July 2012 (academic year 2011-12). Part-time officers muct also be London Met students when they hold office.
London Metropolitan University Students' Union (MetSU)
MetSU is run on a day-to-day basis by the Executive Committee. This is made up of five full-time sabbatical officers and five part time officers. The Students' Union also has two full-time Caseworkers. It is their job to help and assist students with appeals, hearings, complaints, submitting mitigating circumstances and other similar issues.
Students’ Union Liaison & Quality Coordinator (SULQC)
The SULQC works within the Department of Student Services and is the link between the University and the Union. The SULQC provides constitutional, institutional and administrative support, advice and guidance to MetSU. The SULQC facilitates the annual elections to the Executive Committee, Student Council and NUS Conference delegates. They arrange the training and induction of the Executive Committee each year. They also convene and act as the Secretary to the Student Council. The SULQC also acts as the StARS (Course Rep) Scheme Coordinator.
