Invitation to the London Met Student Awards 2010
Celebrating student success and active involvement

On Wednesday 2nd June we are holding the London Met Student Awards, an evening to celebrate student involvement at the University. This is a chance to reward students who have given their time to make a positive contribution to the University or local community including participating in student societies, the Students’ Union, student representation (StARs/Student Council), the Assist programme and community volunteering.

The London Met Student Awards will take place at the Assembly Hall, Islington Town Hall, Upper Street, London, N1 2UD on Wednesday 2 June, 5.30 pm – 8 pm.

The Mayor of Islington and our Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), will be attending, speaking and presenting the awards. There will also be a networking opportunity, live performances and entertainment, and refreshments!

Students’ Union Elections 2010 - RESULTS!

Congratulations to the newly elected Students’ Union Officers.

The results of the Students’ Union Election 2010 were announced on Tuesday 30th March at 12.30 in The Rocket, North Campus.

The following students have duly been elected and will be taking up office in July 2010;

Vice-President North (Education & Representation): Samsul Hoq
Vice President City (Education & Representation): Muhammed Sadi
Communication & Campaigns Officer: Claire Locke
Participation & Development Officer: Tarequl Islam Khan

Diversity & Equality Officer: Angelo Weekes
Welfare Officer: Sara Awayez
International Students’ Officer: Towfiq Ahamed
Part-time Students Officer: Mohamed Mohamed
Postgraduate Students Officer: Michael P Young

Independent Student Council Members City: Inmaculada Garcia Lopez & Ayoola Onifade
Independent Student Council Members North: Estashamul Haque & James Canlas

NUS Conference Delegates 2010: Rishi Pancholi, Phillipe Giovanni Chiarella, Tarequl Islam Khan, James Canlas, Bonolo Jamarl Woracker, Yeashir Ahmed, Angelo Weekes.

Number of votes cast: 1316
Number of student eligible to vote: 22,254
2010 turnout: 5.9%
Turnout threshold for University to be bound to recognise and fund the Students’ Union: 5%
2009 Turnout: 1.5%

This election was facilitated by Electoral Reform Society ERS STV 97 voting system. This is the voting system recommended by the National Union of Students (NUS).
