Your Education, Your say!

Who am I:

My name is Cynthia Edo, currently serving as a Full-Time officer for The School of Social Sciences and School of Social Professions standing for re-elections to be your next President for the Student Union. As a Youth Studies graduate with a First degree, I can relate to your student journey and all struggles that come with your studies. I am very passionate and hungry for social justice as well as advocating for your voices to be heard.

Why should you vote for me?

I am relatable, accessible and dependable; a person who will represent your needs, issues and concerns to the university. As I have a year experience within office, I believe I am equipped and suited to being a successful President who is FOR you. I have had the great opportunity to represent the student body this year in senor leadership meetings and ensure that your voice and needs are being listened to and met. I have also built relationships with senior leadership teams within the university and worked collaboratively with them to ensure students are at the forefront of every decisions made. Vote me in and I will ensure, YOUR SAY about YOUR EDUCATION is heard!

Examples of what I have done for you this year:

·      Hosting Q&As with senior leadership teams within the university- This gives students opportunity to ask SLT questions and hold them accountable.

·      Working on decreasing the attainment gap - Ensuring BAME students have the right resources and support they need to achieve the best grades.

·      Mental wellbeing campaign for BAME and LGBT+ community- working with the head of student services to ensure the counselling service are reflective of London Met student body which students can identify with.

What I will focus on if you vote me for president:

·      Continue the work for Equity, Diversity and Inclusion- Making sure BAME and LGBT+ communities are reflected in the lectures which helps decolonise the curriculum, resulting in students feeling like they belong and identified with in the university.

·      Ensure total transparency from the university about blended learning. I will make sure student have a choice.

·      Mental wellbeing- continue to work with the head of student services to expand services available to students and ensure student have access to them.

·      Work with the university to ensure the safe return to campus for students so you feel comfortable coming back.
