Together Towards Success

Hey there!

My name is Margarita Damai and I am running for the position of the Women Officer. This year I was the officer for the School of Human Sciences and The Guildhall School of Business and Law.

Being an officer was one of the best experiences. I was able to push myself beyond my limits, and I understood that there were no limits, if you have that burning desire within your heart to succeed. I was an EU-student, who had little to no idea on democracy, I just knew that I wanted to help others like me, stand for them, be their voice and lead them towards their success.

One of the best experiences as an officer so far, apart from meeting a lot of students and running campaigns, was to give several speeches at my School Graduation Ceremonies. Speaking in the Great Hall made me realise that I was not that anxious little girl who struggled with English anymore. I had been able to challenge my greatest fear, public speaking. And now, it is the time to help empower other women students, who like me, want to have a strong voice, achieve success and follow their dreams.

What I have done for you?

  1. run several activities and events- such as the Halloween Party etc,

  2. supporting the women officer and working on consent and sexual misconduct policy

  3. Supported the international students

  4. Increased socieites` number and promoting inclusivity

  5. Worked with the Heads of the Schools to makes sure that your issues are resolved into a timely manner,e.g timetable, enrollment, complaints

What are my promises to you.

  1. Better inclusion of women students from the marginalised groups

  2. Providing a space within the university where mature women students can safely drop their children until the end of their lecture

  3. Provide career development and employability support session for women student

  4. Development of Wellbeing and Mental Health support for women students

  5. Lobby the university to provide a blended approach for mature women students with caring responsibilities

  6. Start a feminism club for mature women student

I promise that I will make this happen. I know that I can, and I will. I am aware of the obstacles and challenges that this role entails, but I will either find a way, or invent a new one.

Every woman and girl has a story to tell, and I promise that I will be here to support, empower and encourage you towards the sky of success. You are never too young to build an empire, and never too old to chase a dream. I believe in us!

So, what are you waiting for. Take my hand, and let me lead you towards your success. Together Towards Success.

Vote for your Success!
