TOLERANCE & CONNECTION

My name is Alexander Badmus, the student representative for international
relations and politics (2021-2023). I believe leadership is an opportunity to
serve. It is with this vision I aspire to be your leader. If selected, I would
love to lead by example with open-mindedness and creativity, honesty,
integrity, with inspiration.

The focus will be on ASPIRATION, RESPECT and BONDING.

ASPIRATION: As the saying goes, "A soul without a high purpose is like a
ship without a rudder," We all aspire to reach our goals and potential. And
many of us have not discovered what it is all about. One of my priorities
will be to engender opportunities for everyone to exhibit their skills and
aptitude. We cannot do it on our own. We require the guidance and
support and guidance of our teachers.

I am sure they will elongate all possible advantages in this regard. We are
blessed to have the opportunity to study at London Metropolitan, which
has always set standards of excellence in academic results and, more
importantly, in the student-teacher relationship.

RESPECT: This is paramount because we live in a world where mind,
politics and economic power rule. Human rights are perpetually being
infringed. Intolerance between communities is growing, and as paradoxical
as it may seem, it is important not to tolerate the intolerant. In this
context, respect for others and oneself should be enlightened, understood
and appreciated in our classrooms.

I would relish engendering respect in classrooms and any social setting. We
should learn to respect our parents, our lecturers and our elders. We
should learn to respect the law of the land and be law-abiding citizens.

BONDING: Bonding is an essential part of the university experience;
what is the point of being in a class or university with other students when
you don't know each other? It will benefit our mental health, especially in
today's world; we spend more time with gadgets, chatting, gaming and
living in a visual world.

I want to promote bonding activities. With the realisation that nobody is
indispensable and everyone needs somebody to lean on, if we don't get to
know each other, we can't rely on or help one another now or in future.
So, I seek your co-operation as I cannot do it alone as your leader. Let us
try to build lasting relationships.

Success, as I see it, is not one person achieving. Instead, it is about helping
others achieve their aspiration by enabling others to realise their dreams;
that is what our lecturers do. So, let us begin to realise our full potential.
Let us do this in an atmosphere of respect and sportsman spirit. In this
process, let us build lasting relationships lasting into the future.

Let me assure you, my friends. We are not going to be defeated; we will
undoubtedly win. And the beauty of the victory will be that we all shall win
together and make our teachers and parents proud.
