Hi LMU,
Who am I?
I am Iffat Ara, a first year Pharmaceutical Science student at London Metropolitan University, been in the university for the last 1.5 year as I did my foundation year program for a year, I am working as a student ambassador of the university and also, a Student Group Leader, President of the Dance Society, and Vice President of the Events Society and now am honoured to be running for the position of Women’s Officer.
I have dedicated my time to building inclusive spaces where every woman feels empowered to express themselves. My passion for advocating for women’s rights and well-being stems from the courageous women I’ve met — women who have survived domestic violence, abuse, and inhumane labour conditions. Their stories have inspired me to act and strive for meaningful changes.
If elected, my vision is to focus on the following key areas:
Empowerment and Leadership:
- Increase women’s representation in leadership roles across student societies and university committees.
- Support and Work for the well-being of International Students.
- Organize workshops on public speaking to help women embrace leadership opportunities.
Celebrating Beauty:
- Body-Positive Art Festival: Challenge conventional beauty standards and norms.
- Creative Expression Workshops: Express ourselves through dance, poetry, and art.
Awareness and Advocacy:
- Run Dance for Awareness Campaigns : organize performances highlighting women’s empowerment, gender equality, breaking stereotypes, women’s rights to build self-confidence, body positivity, and emotional expression.
- Promote body positivity and mental health awareness, creating safe spaces for women to share their experiences and find support.
Community and Support
- Create peer support groups where women can connect, share experiences, and uplift each other.
Why should you vote for me?
- Having experience in leadership position I know how to lead, organize, and make things happen.
- As an international student myself, I understand the challenges we face and am committed to advocating for their support and well-being.
- After spending year engaging with university, I’ve built valuable relationships with the correct people that equip me to propose and initiate impactful changes.
This manifesto is more than a set of promises — it’s a call to action. Together, we can build a university community where women are not just supported but celebrated. Let us stand united to create a safer, more inclusive, and empowering environment for all.
Thank you for your support. Let’s make a difference — Vote Iffat Ara for Women’s Officer.
