YASMEEN BASHIR

Small Person, Big Voice.

I have a lot of ideas and goals that I believe, with your help, can be achieved. I care about every woman's experience as a student of London Met and I genuinely want to make a difference here in any way I can. Here are a few of my goals:

  • Work with the President to have more sexual health clinics and workshops. Sexual health is an extremely important aspect of our lives and I believe we should be able to talk about it freely and unapologetically, especially because of the various misconceptions associated with it.
  • Ensure the availability of free sanitary pads in female restrooms. The supply of pads and tampons shouldn't be limited to just the Students' Union, especially when someone might need them desperately and has to travel across the campus to access them.
  • Work with you to create support groups for women who have suffered or are still suffering from different kinds of abuse. Many students aren't aware that the university has a Sexual Violence Hotline and I believe we need to create more awareness, not just about the hotline but also about sexual and domestic violence that a lot of women face. I want to create a safe space where we can talk about such experiences without being judged and where we all support each other and perhaps even share ways that we got through it so we can help others to also move forward.

I have always cared about people, so allow me to help improve your experience in London Met and in life.
