Grab your flatmates and learn how to prepare and serve a hearty traditional Sunday Roast! Whether you’re missing your home comforts, or you’re looking to try a quintessentially British dish, join Tastes Like Tom as he walks you through everything you’ll need for you and your group.

Grab yourself the ingredients and equipment listed below then take part in this interactive workshop that runs over the course of an afternoon.

With a few tricks up your sleeve you can produce a stress free spread with plenty of leftovers!

Get yourself ready

It’s time for you to get you and your kitchen prepped for the big day. Over your three hours of cooking you will be making a roast chicken, roast potatoes and carrots, creamy leeks, homemade stuffing, cooked greens, gravy and possibly even Yorkshire puddings (if time allows)! We hope you’re hungry because this is a feast that will comfortably feed four and still leave you with plenty of leftovers to see you through the rest of the week.

Ingredients 

  • 1 Extra Large Chicken (2kg)
  • 1-2 Bulbs of Garlic 
  • 3 Large White Onions 
  • 3 Leeks (0.5kg) 
  • 1kg Potatoes 
  • 0.5kg Carrots 
  • Greens of your choice (broccoli/peas/beans etc.)
  • 1-2 Lemons
  • 2 Eggs
  • Grating Cheese (Cheddar/ Parmesan or both)
  • 300ml Double Cream
  • 200g Unsalted Butter
  • Vegetable Oil
  • 3 x Chicken Stock Cubes 
  • 200g Breadcrumbs 
  • Fresh Rosemary 
  • Dry Sage 
  • Salt and Pepper
  • Dry Thyme/ Basil (optional)
  • Flour (optional)
  • Corn Flour (optional)
  • White Wine (optional)

  • Pots and Pans 
  • Frying Pan
  • Measuring Jug
  • Grater
  • Mixing Bowl

  • 2x Roasting Dishes (Medium)
  • Muffin Tin
  • Knives

There’s just a little bit of prep work to do before you join the stream at midday on Sunday, take a look at this video to see how you can get your onions, garlic, leeks, carrots, potatoes and butter all ready to go:

  • Dice 1.5 onions
  • Dice 8 cloves of garlic
  • Wash and slice 3 leeks
  • Wash, peel and cut 1kg of potatoes
  • Wash, peel and slice 500g carrots
  • Portion 3 x 50g unsalted butter
