Name:  Michal Larysz

Volunteer Roles Held:  Student Rep (Architecture Year I, Architecture Year II), Student Council Member

My name is Michal Larysz, a man who’s curiosity and willingness to learn has led him to dedicate himself to helping others in volunteer roles.

I come to you from a stunning village in Lower-Silesia, Poland to share my passions and to improve our experience at London Metropolitan University. Coming from overseas I bring fresh and unique solutions to help and inspire students across the whole of London Met – because we all make this place so special.

Being a Student Representative and being a part of the Student Council, are the ways I make a difference in our environment and through this I help improve student opportunities at the university. Important to me is generating the chance to have great training, meet inspirational people, improve your public speaking skills and make things happen! This year, me and my friends helped design the Student Union at Aldgate Campus - we painted, cleaned and refurbished the space to make it friendly and open to everyone.

I'd like to tell you why it's worth getting involved. No matter what path you take, it is so rewarding to pay back and do something for your community. Helping others will give you so much more satisfaction than anything else. Being involved in the heart of the University life is the first step to improving yourself and change the experience of your community in a positive way. This year, we made the Get2Draw Society. A group of students passionate about drawings and art to master their drawing skills and unite students interested in art. Provide the opportunity to everyone to improve drawing skills without obligation and enjoy the benefits of art by itself.

I really believe it is worth risking everything to have a positive influence on other people's lives and use your potential for a good cause. Working with a great effort independently of a project and expanding my experience in a place among people, who just like me, have a vision and adore what they do.

P.s. Don't forget about a cup of coffee and good people around!

Best,
Michal.
