London Met Students’ Union held a Referenda from the 17th until the 19th of November in which students were invited to vote on 3 questions.
Students were invited to propose questions for this referenda and we received one question about specialist support for victims of sexual violence.

Do you support the changes proposed to the full time officer structure at the Students’ Union?
Yes: 71 votes

Question 2: Specialist support for victims of sexual violence
Should the Students' Union lobby the University to provide more specialist support for students who have experienced sexual violence?
Yes: 85 votes
No: 3 votes

Question 3: Reassessment cap
Currently, when students fail an assessment component and they have missed the mitigating circumstances deadline, they are required to resit the failed component but are capped at 40%. Which of the following options do you think the Students’ Union should adopt:

Lobby the University to increase the reassessment cap from 40% to a range of 55-60%

Lobby the University to allow students to retake their failed components within a module in which they have an overall pass grade

Lobby the University for a scaled deduction in the overall mark according to how many days later you hand in your coursework submission

Question 3 was run using a voting system called Single Transferable Vote. This means students could rank the options in order of preference. Option one won on ‘first preference votes’.
