London Met took a 7-5 lead at the North London Varsity in a heavily snow-affected week of sport. Whilst many were seeking refuge and calling in snow days, the Sea of Red gallantly continued to represent the University with gusto and a high level of skill.
Monday night saw the women’s futsal, pool, and an extra time-winning netball team catapult the University into a 3-1 win. SOAS fought back on Tuesday, but the Mixed Volleyball maintained the two point gap before Wednesday's "Beast from the East" wiped out the football, rugby and cricket fixtures. With the Sea of Red dominating Wednesday night’s basketball, London Met are two points clear going into the rearranged matches.
It is hoped that the matches will be rearranged before the end of term. London Met need three wins out of the six remaining matches to retain the Varsity.
Special thanks must go to the 172 people who attended the Basketball matches on Wednesday night and to the SU staff, security and venue staff for allowing us to run a smooth Varsity. Let's hope the rest of the teams can bring home the win and we can celebrate in style in the summer term!!
