We are pleased to announce that the Societies Showdown - London Met SU VS Greenwich SU got longlisted for the Collaboration Award on the National Societies & Volunteering Awards (NSVA). This is the first time that we have been nominated and it is an honour to see that our SU has been recognised!
The Societies Showdown took place on the 6th of April at the London Met Sports Hall. Our societies competed against Greenwich SU societies. In the end, there were 3 big winners: Russian Speakers Society from GSU, Amnesty International Society from LMSU, and Afgan Society from LMSU.
This event was special and one-of-a-kind as it was something new and unique, purely focused on increasing societies' engagement. The event included a wide range of challenges, such as cooking and debating, which provided an opportunity for participants to practice leadership and team-building/bonding exercises, as well as the opportunity to network and socialise with other students and societies from another university.
This initiative is a first of its kind which encourages more cross-collaboration between societies from different Students' Unions, with the potential to start a movement of building student communities off-campus to their respective institutions.
Both of the SUs worked really hard to make this event happen. You can read more about our nomination here. The winners will be announced on the 15th of June!
