MARGARITA DAMAI

WHO AM I?

I’m Margarita and I currently a student for Biomedical Sciences on my foundation year. I am your

student representative, president of International Student Society and secretary of Sciences Society.

WHY ME?

I am a determined and progressive individual. Diplomacy is my strength. I am able to evaluate the

situation and choose the required steps in solving a case. I am self-reflective, this means that I learn

from making mistakes, in fact they made me realize how much I have progressed and what else I

need to achieve in order to succeed. I am a hardworking individual, I can perfectly work under

pressure and I am able to carry out multiple tasks at once.

During this year I have worked close with many of you, as a student representative. This experience

has opened my eyes and made me aware of most of the difficulties that students face, going on the

red, the lecturer’s voice cutting, slow wi-fi connection, access problems, tight deadlines etc. As such I

have communicated continuously with the lecturers and module leaders, and this has helped to

increase my leadership, collaborative and confidence.

WHAT HAVE I DONE FOR YOU?

1. Foundation year students (Biomedical Sciences) had 3 tests within the same week. By

communicating closer with the lecturers, the dates for 2 of the tests were moved to a later

date.

2. We all had attendance issues, most of the students were confused on what N, Y, NR meant.

By contacting the module leader this confusion was sorted out.

3. I ensured that most students difficult situations (internet , weblearn) were communicated to

the module leader immediately.

WHAT ARE MY MAIN AIMS?

1. Help in promoting and increasing students employability within the SU department.

2. Promote and engage more activities with the societies.

3. Ensure there will be a mental health department with a 8-19pm availability that each

student can access.

4. Communicate with the library and increase the online books availability and also increase

the online journals access that our university has in different sites.

5. Create a website where all the students can contact me from 9-20pm, submit any request or

book an meeting.

6. Closely communicate with the University office to increase the scholarship (from only one

year to two years) for international students.

All of this can be possible with a hard work, determination, belief and a realistic approach. I

strongly belief that I have all of this qualities and that I am the ideal candidate for this

position. Vote for me, and let me be support you, let me be your voice, let me lead you

towards your success. TOGETHER TOWARDS SUCCESS!!!!
