For Human Sciences & Beyond!

Hello fellow students my name is Oeste but everyone calls me West.

I’m currently one of the class reps for the dietetics and nutrition course 2019/20, a member of your student council and elected student council under graduate representative to the academic board.

I love being part of the Student Union (SU) and working towards making our lives at university, fun, fair, rememberable and importantly making sure we have the correct tools to succeed and graduate in our chosen field.

Whilst holding these roles I’ve worked with the SU’s executive team and members of the academic board to investigate the unfair balance of BAME students being penalised for plagiarism, I’ve liaised with local businesses to get more discounts on food and drinks and raised timetables, revision workshops and exams at both committee level and academic board.

I need to finish what I’ve started so.

That is why I’m running to be your human sciences part time officer, council representative and NUS delegate so I can continue to be that loud proactive voice to help US achieve our education as seamlessly and as fairly possible.

So my pledge to you my fellow students IF elected is to.

  • Continue to lobby ALL food establishments both in and outside the university to reduce or subsidise their menu and make it more affordable to us students, including Nando’s & McDonalds to provide FURTHER discounts.
  • Campaign for completely MEAT free days in ALL the universities canteens & for BETTER recycling facilities so we can be a more sustainable environmentally friendly university (including using recycled paper & toilet tissue, smarter lighting, heating & eco dryers)
  • Lobby for a who’s WHO from day one of starting your course from both the SU & University for ALL full time & part time positions including reps & council members.
  • Lobby for better communications between SU, Class Rep’s, Societies & the University.
  • Continue to work with the SU and University to make sure BAME, LGBT+, Disabled, & Minority groups get treated equally, fairly & with respect.
  • Lobby for better facilities for ALL societies.
  • Campaign for a louder student REP and student council voice in order to have a much better say on our studies.
  • Campaign for a more liable SU, so WE are more open and transparent & more “Inclusive” of the Part-time officers’ role.
  • Lobby for a science community week.
  • Lobby for MORE course committees and forums so you can use that collective student voice to direct your studies better.
  • Campaign for better exam revision for the ENTIRE University regardless of which school you study in.
  • Campaign for a FORM of tutorial capturing to help with revision and course work.
  • To lobby for better, cleaner science equipment and replace broken equipment with new ones.

A Vote for me is not a just a vote for a part-time human science officer it’s a vote for a LOUD, proactive, inclusive voice for EVERY student at London Met.

.Vote West.
