Who am I?

My name is Chrystalle Margallo and I am the current Full-Time officer for Social Science and Social Professions, standing for re-elections to be your next President for the Student Union. I graduated in BA Diplomacy and International Relations and an avid activist for student rights. My goal is to continue fighting and advocating for your voice in this institution and also Nationally through the Union of Students through my diligence and diplomatic means of approach.

Why me?

I am realistic and progressive with my approach to work and getting things done. I have had a year of experience in office which will help me when I become President. This year I have been given an opportunity to serve our students and carry out many projects to benefit our student body; this has enabled me to learn and understand how it works around the University and how to get things done. I was also able to meet the right contacts and gain support from students and staff, such as heads of schools, our Vice-Chancellor and most importantly students who lead change; I am a strong believer that change is strong when it is a bottom-up process which starts with YOU.

I have worked collaboratively with the Heads of the University to deliver change and a better experience for students here are a few examples of What I did for YOU this year.

1.We campaigned tirelessly for 24hr hour library during exam seasons

2.I led the work in reviewing your assessment regulation to ensure a quicker application process when applying for mitigating circumstances with simpler guidelines.

3.I ensured more seasoning in the Uni food and we will continue to bargain for more and more!

4.I help create events such as the Black History Month and LGBTQIA+ month (and the RAINBOW lanyards available to pick up in the SU)

If you vote for me to be President, this coming year I will do the following, which of some I have already started working on, I highly believe in transparency, therefore, I have added how I will go about delivering these promises to you.

1.Ensuring Lecture Capture (Currently working with the deputy Vice-Chancellor to create and reinforce a policy)

2.Create an inclusive Curriculum for Students with the University (by working with the Pro-Associate Vice-Chancellor and Students to create a bottom-up change)

3.Increase Student jobs within the SU (I found gaps in which we can spend more money to employ more students)

4.Increase the provision on 24 hr Library (Continue to Lobby for longer periods of usage)

5.Cut Graduation cost (Negotiate with the University how we can do this based on research and conversations with other Universities on how they did it.)

There are many more projects I plan to carry out in line with what the University plans to do for students and it is important that your voice is represented, I would like to do this for you. so IF YOU WANT THINGS DONE, CHRYSTALLE IS THE ONE.
