What types of Complaints can the OIA look at?

The OIA can review complaints about anything the University has done or failed to do. The OIA look at final decisions made by the University on a number of issues including;

  • Appeals

  • Complaints

  • Disciplinary Action

  • Discrimination

  • Fitness to Practice

  • Procedural defects 

  • Unfair practices

  • Your course 

  • A final decision of a university's disciplinary or appeal panel  

 

The OIA is unable to deal with the following;

  • Admissions

  • Course enquiries 

  • Academic Judgement

  • Student employment

  • Matters which are being considered or have been concluded by a court or tribunal

  • Matters which the OIA have already dealt with
