Hi, I am Matt and I am your number 1 candidate for STUDENT EMPOWERMENT! I am a Former full-time Officer and an international student from Trinidad and Tobago, in my final year of earning a degree in Biochemistry.

In my time here I have met a large number of amazing individuals who, like myself, started their journey at London Met with high aspirations and grand career goals in mind. It has always been my wish to see my peers well-equipped to obtain and lead fulfilling careers after they graduate. Your Voice Matters! And as Your President, I will work to ensure that it is heard and that As a Union, we work to achieve our full potential, together to make a difference!

A leader needs to have a vision and my goal is for both current and prospective students to have the right facilities and opportunities at their disposal to help them navigate through their journeys of academic self-improvement. Together we can achieve great things!

If elected I am willing to be 100% dedicated to the role of serving students as your President and I would be honoured to gain your support.

 

WHAT QUALIFIES ME FOR THE JOB?

  • Elected Full-Time Officer for the Guildhall School of Business and Law and the School of Humans Sciences in 2020
  • Former President of the Life Sciences Society 2017-19

  • Experienced Student Representative and Current serving Student council member 2018-22

  • Successfully lobbied for a GSBL well being day for students during the pandemic.
  • Successfully proposed motions to create new volunteer student roles within Sustainability and to address our unions' policy around inclusion in Student Activites 
  • Voluntary participant in Student Experience Sub-Committee, which aimed to improve quality of student experience across BOTH CAMPUSES!

  • Current Student Ambassador 2018-22

  • Archery Captain 2021-22 

 

IF ELECTED I WILL AIM TO:

  • Seek to have MORE NETWORKING and GUEST EVENTS from individuals working within our desired industries and fields of interest.

  • Lobby the university to improve our Student Facilities at both our ALDGATE and HOLLOWAY Campuses starting with provisions for Student Lockers!

  • Campaign to improve and review our universities Mental health initiatives and provisions!

  • Increase Student Union engagement by committing to work in partnership with our 3 newly elected Vice-Presidents and Student Volunteers!

  • Seek to hold more Moderated forums for student debate and discussions around STUDENT MATTERS!

  • Lobby the university to have 6 NEW DEDICATED STUDENT UNION SCREENS at each campus to EMPOWER our STUDENT MEDIA NETWORK and put your activities back in the spotlight

  • WORK towards having the BEST WELCOME WEEK EVER in 2022 with great student events to Welcome all to our amazing Student Community

  • Work to increase Collaboration with other Student Unions and relaunch our Varsity competitive games for 2023 PLUS + MUCH MORE!

Lastly, I value transparency and I will commit to working to improve communication between our Union and University with our student body and continue to ensure we keep working together in accordance with our Student Partnership Agreement!
