Writing a statement

Make sure you include the following key details.

 

What has happened / what are the circumstances?

Write a summary of the issue you are facing. Explain what has happened in chronological order, providing specific dates which covers the period of assessment in question.

 

How were you affected by the circumstances?

Explain how your circumstances impacted you personally. Describe your health and well-being including physical symptoms and mental health. You could provide examples of how this has affected your day-to-day life, including sleep loss, motivation loss or any periods of pain. You should talk about how long you have been impacted by these circumstances.

 

How has your academic performance been affected?

Explain the impact on your affected assessments. You should describe how your studies have been disrupted by your circumstances. For example, if you have experienced loss, this may cause reduced concentration when reading sources for an upcoming essay deadline.
