In-year Reassessment

What is an In-Year Reassessment?

The In-Year Reassessment is a new procedure implemented by the University in 2022 and is available to students at Level 3 (Foundation Year) or Level 4 (First Year).

If you have failed to submit an assessment, you have the option to take an in-year reassessment if you fall under one of the following:

  • You submitted the original assessment and unfortunately failed

  • The failed component is coursework (not an exam or presentation or group work)

  • The original deadline for the initial assessment was before 31 March

When can I submit the In-Year Reassessment?

Students have 30 days from receiving your feedback from the original assessment to resubmit their in-year reassessment.

Note, your marks for the assessment will be capped at 40%.

What if I cannot submit the In Year Reassessment?

You will still be entitled to your end-of-year reassessment opportunity in the July reassessment period. The deadline is Friday 28 July 2023 at 3pm.

Can I submit a Mitigating Circumstances claim in relation to an In-Year Reassessment deadline?

Unfortunately, you cannot submit a mitigating circumstances claim for the in-year reassessment. The mitigating circumstances process for other types of assessment remains the same.

If you miss the deadline due to Mitigating Circumstances, you can still submit your work during the end-of-year reassessment period.

What if I cannot submit the In-Year Reassessment? Can I have an extension?

Unfortunately, coursework/self-certification extensions are no longer permitted for any assessments.

What if I submit the In Year Reassessment and fail?

If you submit the in-year reassessment and unfortunately fail again, you will still be entitled to your end-of-year reassessment opportunity in the July reassessment period. The deadline is Friday 28 July 2023 at 3pm.

I am trying to submit my work but the link isn’t working. What should I do?

Module Leaders are responsible for setting up folders/links for submissions. If you experience issues with submitting your work, you should contact your course leader as soon as possible.
